Three Year Olds

Three Year Olds' Curriculum 2011-2012: pdf

The Green Room is our young three year old classroom.

Weekly or Monthly topics covered will include the following:

• All About me, making friends, growing up
• Families
• Seasonal themes
• Social skills; understanding emotions
• Taking care of ourselves, and taking care and respecting our friends and those around us
• Classroom etiquette, using the bathroom, eating, etc
• Encouraging good listening and good manners skills; gratefulness
• Transportation
• Community Helpers
• Health, Safety; healthy foods; exercise; senses
• Science; the universe & space
• Global awareness through our monthly cultural themes, flags, food, national symbols, basic geography, thinking of others, diversity, inclusion

Carpet Time in the Green Room will cover the following throughout the year:

• Singing
• Stories & books
• Learning names
• Learning to sit and increase attention span
• Increase in verbalization & communication
• Some Spanish, counting, singing, common words, stories

Other parts of our curriculum will include art, individual and group projects, table activities including play dough, trains, legos, puzzles, small and large manipulative activities, and sensory table activities. Dramatic Play will be a primary focus of free time for children to help with social skills, and role modeling to help understand the world around them. Chapel time in the Green Room focuses on developing social skills through encouragement of friendships and respect for those around us, in the classroom, school, and community at large.

Once time in the Green Room has been completed, students will leave prepared for the Pre-K curriculum offered in our Blue (younger Pre-K) and Yellow (Older Pre-K) rooms. Placement in Blue or Yellow will depend on age and development.
